Perspective helps
So...Thanks everyone for your encouraging comments. I realize that it sounds a bit dismal. It's not that bad really. But it is hard. Life...loving like Jesus...it's hard sometimes. I'm trying to be like Jesus but I'm more selfish than Jesus is. I don't pull signs and wonders out of my back pocket, or the mud. I'm not without sin as he is. I don't like hanging out with people the way He does. People get on my nerves a lot. So, it's hard.
But I discovered this week that it's only hard when I lose perspective. I think that's what's been happening to me lately because when I was walking to work the other morning I got a perspective shift. I walked passed the Cambie Bakery and I saw a guy sitting in the window and he didn't have any hands. But he was still managing to have a cup of coffee.
It was a strange sight, but in that moment I realized that my life isn't that bad. Not like, I looked at the no-hands man and felt sorry for him and thought, "Oh, well...at least my life isn't that bad." It wasn't like that. It was more just a dawning of understanding that perspective is key.
So I started listing things that I have to be thankful for. I have a LOT to be thankful for. If you're going through a tough time, start giving thanks...it might just change your perspective.

Getting lost in a storm out at sea...elation always follows when you see land as the sun breaks through the clouds. No storms ever last forever. The sun always shines through...just sometimes longer than others.

one of my favorite movies has this scene in it that i think we can all learn a lot from.
everyone has been looking at the same old room for quite a while and so the teacher has them stand on the desk- just o get a new perspective.
so seriously- whenever life just looks like the same ole pile of shi...crap...just climb up on a desk...or couch...or chair...and see how things look then
